Grandchildren
I guess I can’t leave out the other two grandchildren. They just didn’t make the game.
Spring Game
We went to the Spring Game at VT. It was fun. My grandson was really into it. He is one. When the crowd clapped, he clapped; when the crowd when Whoa–he went Whoa! Such fun! My granddaughter ate her nachos–not as into the game!
In Memory
April 16, 2008 is a day of remembrance. According to an email I received through the alumni association, the victims will be honored at a ceremony that will take place Wednesday on the Drillfield at 10:30 A.M. EDT. It will be televised by various media and streamed through the university’s website www.vt.edu. President Steger and Virginia’s Governor Kaine will make remarks. Other participatory events are being held throughout the day, and a candlelight vigil at dusk will signal the end of the day’s observances.
Concerts
Sunday we went to Danville to hear the Danville Area Choral Arts Society perform Brahm’s Requiem. It was dedicated to those who died at VT last April 16. It was very good, but my favorite part was actually the pianist. She was amazing. I sat there watching her hands fly up and down the keyboard. Afterward, we went to my niece’s church play so we had a day of music.
Sleep
We slept until 11:00 a.m. this morning! (We were in the house without children) I haven’t done that in forever. Of course, we did stay up until all hours playing RISK. My daughter, Jamie, dominated the world in the end (actually I surrendered-the guys were already out), but once I lost my granddaughter’s great roll–I started going down!
Winston Salem Here We Come
We are going to Winston Salem to celebrate my son-in-law’s birthday!
Tomorrow is also my daughter-in-law’s birthday!
Strange coincidences!
